"Nostalgia" Strawberry Vanilla Red
"Nostalgia" Strawberry Vanilla Red
It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Nostalgia Red is a sweet combination of Acala Red Alchemy red (black) tea, organic Madagascar vanilla bean nibs, and organic strawberry pieces.
My lifelong friend, Amy, loves a good strawberry cream red tea, so this tea was created for her. Even though we are separated by distance, I know we both enjoy a cup of Nostalgia tea and think about the years of laughter we have shared.
So raise a cup and dedicate it to a friend with whom you never miss a beat when reunited and makes you laugh uncontrollably until your stomach muscles burn.
Enjoy warm or as a cold brew. See Brewing Instructions.

Red (black) tea contains 40-60mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup. As the tea ages, the caffeine levels decline over time because light and leaf oxidation reduce caffeine. Thus, an aged red tea that is decades old may not contain much caffeine at all. If you have the willpower to resist drinking this tea and to instead store and age the tea, the taste profile will only deepen.

Brewing Recommendations
Brewing Recommendations
Serving Size: 5g (2 tsp) of tea per 100ml purified water
Ideal brewing vessel: Porcelain teapot or gaiwan
Western-Style Steeping (recommended): Boil water to 212F and then wait for the water to stop bubbling before pouring into the tea pot. Allow the tea to steep for 3 minutes. Brew again two more times, removing the lid between steepings to allow leaves to cool.
Grandpa Style Steeping: Add tea to a chawan (tea bowl) or large tea mug. Use 1-2 grams less tea than usual. Slowly pour hot (not boiling) water directly on the leaves until the tea bowl is filled two-thirds to the top. After the tea leaves have opened, the tea is ready. Tea leaves will eventually settle on the bottom of the cup. Drink off the top and add more water throughout the day when necessary.
Cold Brewing: Place 5g (2 tsp) of tea in pitcher filled with 450ml of cold water. Refrigerate overnight.
