Nepali Organic Lemongrass
Nepali Organic Lemongrass
Nepali Organic Lemongrass is grown in Nepal under pristine Nepali skies and farmed by a creative cooperative of small-farm tea women.
There are numerous benefits to lemongrass. It aids in digestion, piques the appetite, lowers hyperacidity, and prevents gas formation and bloating.
In Ayurvedic medicine, digestive gases are caused when the Vata dosha is imbalanced and higher than usual, resulting in a low digestive "fire." Lemongrass increases the heat in an otherwise cold natured Vata dosha, balancing and calming it, and thus aiding with insomnia. An aggravated Vata dosha also impairs digestion and causes toxins (Ama) to accumulate in pancreatic cells, impairing insulin function in the body.*
Lemongrass increases heat in the hot-natured Pitta dosha. When the body's Pitta dosha is lower than usual, bloating occurs in the belly. Lemongrass brings balance to the Pitta dosha. However, lemongrass should not be used in excess after balancing the Pitta dosha because this could tip the scale to having too much heat.
Lemongrass balances Kapha dosha. Because Kapha dosha is cool and slow in nature, it can become aggravated by additional cold. Lemongrass warms Kapha dosha, managing it to maintain equilibrium and balance. When Kapha is balanced, digestion in improved, urine (Mutrala) production is normalized, bowels are calmed and purged regularly (Rechana), and colds, coughs and body aches are reduced. Because a weak digestive system stores excess fat, lemongrass aids in weight loss by helping the body digest excess fat properly and improve metabolism. Lemongrass also releases mucus and clears air passages and opens breathing, resulting in a balanced Kapha dosha.
*Monitor blood sugar while ingesting ginger if you are on medication for diabetes. **Beneficial if not in excessive amounts due to is Ayurvedic hot nature (ushna).

Brewing Recommendations
Brewing Recommendations
Serving Size: 5g (2 tsp) per 300ml (1 cup) (10oz) purified water.
Ideal Brewing Vessel: Glass tea pot with infuser; porcelain or ceramic tea pot with strainer; tea sachets
Western Style Steeping: Boil water to 212F/100C. Steep lemongrass for 2-3 minutes before pouring through a strainer into a tea cup or pitcher.
Sachet Brewing: Add 5g (2 tsp) to a tea sachet and place inside a mug filled with 212F/100C water. Steep for 2-3 minutes and enjoy. Brews again 2+ times.
Cold Brewing: Add 4-6g (2-3 tsp) of lemongrass to a glass brewer with a built-in strainer, like our Ethoz Brewer. Fill the pitcher with 450 ml cold water and allow to brew overnight in the refrigerator.
*Adjust the brew time, temperature and leaf volume to fit your taste: A lower temperature increases vegetal flavor; a shorter brewing time decreases astringency; and a lower volume of leaves reduces bitterness.
